The work of the Chair and Commissioners is supported by a Directorate made up of a small team of civil servants. The team is led by our Director, Barbara-Ann Collins. Deputy Director, Susan Green, manages much of the policy work, including violence against women. Deputy Director, Daniel Barrow, manages much of the internal running and management of WNC, including the WNC Business Plan. Our Assistant Business Manager is Katharine McIntosh, who provides business management, financial, corporate and administrative support to the Directorate and the Board, provides the Secretariat to the Board, including its meetings and is PA to the WNC Chair and Director. Eleri Butler leads our work on violence against women (including domestic violence and sexual violence); on equalities, including EHRC and the Gender Equality Duty. Eleri is supported in this work by Maria Turay.
Shelly Dowrich leads our work on International issues including CSW, CEDAW, and the International and European E-Network; on women in public life, including Public Appointments; and on migration and asylum.
Mutanser Ashraf manages WNC’s external interface and leads on our outreach and communications work, including events and conferences, work with our partners and oversees visitors, plus the WNC website and newsletter.
In addition, the WNC Directorate is often assisted by interns from the UK and overseas. Currently, we have Interns Erin Brooks, Sarah Priest and Sophie Howes all providing a range of support to staff. We also have two interns from the Hansard/Chevening Scholars programme - Lira Duishebaeva and Ziyoda Kurbanova.
